On June 6, Premier Chris Minns issued an “unreserved” apology to NSW’s LGBTQIA+ community over historical laws which criminalised homosexual acts.
The premier said sorry to “every person convicted or otherwise who was made to live a smaller life because of these laws”.
The apology, on behalf of the government, was made on the 40th anniversary of the Crimes (Amendment) Bill 1984, which decriminalised homosexuality in NSW.
