Taking over Qtopia Sydney’s The Loading Dock and The Substation, Pride Fest is a multi-genre program that will run for the full 30 days of June and will include performances from theatre makers, cabaret performers, drag artists, comedians, a capella groups and more. Adding to the mix will be Qtopia Sydney’s first panel discussion, Fearless Voices.
Positioned in The Loading Dock Theatre at 301 Forbes Street, Fearless Voices will take place on June 24 to align with the anniversary of the first Mardi Gras.
Moderated by Curatorial Director George Savoulis, the panel discussion will take a deep dive into insightful conversation with some of the trailblazers who have paved the way to where the LGBTQIA+ community stands at present. 78ers Rebell Barnes, Robyn Kennedy and Ken Davis will join Mr Savoulis on stage, speaking of their lived experience and the year of 1978.
Speaking of the event, CEO Greg Fisher said, “We are so thrilled to be hosting ourvery own – and first – panel discussion during our inaugural Pride Fest season.
“Amongst a vast variety of Queer talent, we believe it is important to use this opportunity to revisit our history as a community, especially considering Pride Month is one of the most vital LGBTQIA+ calendar dates in the year,” he added.
“Whilst attending our plethora of shows, we invite our guests to consider that without the bravery and sacrifice from those who fought before us, we simply wouldn’t have the freedoms that we are so fortunate to enjoy today.
“Rebell, Robyn and Ken have been steadfast in their support for Qtopia Sydney and we look forward to hosting them in our magnificent Loading Dock Theatre this June,” Mr Fisher concluded.
Tickets for Fearless Voices are $60 per person. All proceeds raised from ticket sales will be put back into Qtopia Sydney to ensure our storytelling efforts continue to educate, inspire and promote inclusivity and inclusion.
Fearless Voices takes place on 24 June 2024 at The Loading Dock Theatre, 301 Forbes Street Darlinghurst.
