A new place to celebrate Australia’s LGBTQI+ community has opened in Sydney.
The museum is the largest queer centre of history and culture in the world.
Qtopia is located in the old Darlinghurst Police Station, which some Australians will remember as being the place LGBTQ+ people were detained and humiliated during the 1978 Mardi Gras celebrations.
It aims to offer insight into some painful chapters in history, such as the events of 1978.
While also highlighting the crucial turning points and triumphs.
