As CEO of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, I write to express my full support and endorsement of Qtopia, a safe space to commemorate the legacy of provide education about and celebrate queer lives. Sydney’s LGBTQI+ community has played such a critical role in creating the vibrant broader community we celebrate today, and from this point of view, coupled with the important, and sometimes tragic chapters I’ve outlined of our past, I think the resource proposed by Qtopia will prove not only an important landmark for all of us today, but serve as a wonderful acknowledgement of an important part of Sydney’s legacy.
