The Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch Foundation will donate $1 million to Qtopia – Sydney’s first Queer museum – which showcases the LGBTQIA+ community through history, culture and art.
Qtopia Sydney has been launched as part of WorldPride 2023 to tell the story of Australia’s Queer history.
Founding Partner Sarah Murdoch spoke at the launch saying, “I just thought, we have to step up and do this – honestly it is just too important for the mental health of our young people, to tell the stories of our past”.
The museum features historical and archival objects, imagery, video, and audio and aims to educate people via a safe space – while representing how far Australia has come as a nation.
