The Loading Dock Theatre and Loading Dock Foyer
The Loading Dock is Qtopia Sydney's versatile 50-seat black box theatre, located within our main building at 301 Forbes Street, Darlinghurst. Designed for maximum flexibility, the space can be configured to accommodate a wide range of artistic, cultural and community activities, including theatre, cabaret, live music, readings, workshops, panel discussions, screenings, rehearsals and special events. Its adaptable layout allows presenters, artists and organisations to shape the room around their unique vision, creating engaging and immersive experiences for audiences and participants alike.
The venue is complemented by the licensed Loading Dock Foyer and Bar, which can be utilised as a breakout space for networking, pre- and post-event gatherings, catering, exhibitions, audience engagement activities and informal programming. Together, these interconnected spaces provide a flexible and welcoming environment capable of supporting diverse event formats and audience experiences.

The Substation
The Substation is our underground performance and event space, seating 40 to 50 people in the heart of Taylor Square. Raw, atmospheric and intimate, it offers a powerful setting for experimental work, boundary-pushing storytelling and meaningful audience engagement. Tucked beneath one of Sydney's most iconic Queer crossroads, The Substation thrives on energy, immediacy and connection.
Flexible and adaptable, the space is equally suited to theatre, cabaret, live music, spoken word, panel discussions, workshops, screenings, artist talks, community gatherings, book launches, rehearsals and private functions. Whether hosting emerging creatives, community conversations or innovative cultural experiences, The Substation provides a unique and memorable environment that brings people together in the centre of Sydney's vibrant LGBTQIA+ cultural precinct.
