Becoming was an inaugural exhibition at Qtopia Sydney , examining the history and evolution of gender expression within queer communities in Australia. The exhibition traces how forms of cross-dressing, drag, trans, and gender-diverse identities have intersected, diverged, and developed over time.

The exhibition presents five key moments drawn from local histories, from early colonial examples of cross-dressing to contemporary expressions of gender beyond the binary. It distinguishes between drag as a performative practice and the lived experiences of trans and gender-diverse people, while acknowledging their historical connections.

Through archival material and personal histories, Becoming documents changing language, social attitudes, and acts of self-determination. In 2024, the exhibition was nominated for a Museums & Galleries NSW IMAGinE Awards in the Museums & Heritage, Medium Organisations category.
